Gestamp Automoción is one of the largest manufacturers of metal components and kits for vehicles in the world, with a presence in 17 countries, 48 production centres and 6 R&D centres.
Due to the growth experienced by the Group in recent years, Gestamp decided to carry out a project to optimise the Group’s global purchasing function, with several objectives: to increase professionalism, to drive and elevate the purchasing function within the organisation; to apply best management practices to improve the efficiency, transparency and traceability of processes; to make use of synergies and the Group’s potential; and finally to improve results optimising quality and service conditions and the prices of all the products and services acquired by the company.
The largest challenge was to implement a purchasing model at a global level in which more than 100 buyers from several countries would share the same strategy, methodology, organisation and purchasing systems.
